Birthday and Chemo #3

February 20th, my mom's birthday, also the day she had her 3rd chemo session. What a birthday, at least she was not turning 30 and having chemo, that would really be the worst day ever!! She officially has had the worst birthday ever, everyone has had a bad birthday, but this takes the cake!

My dad asked my sister, Autumn, and I to come to the hospital while she was having her chemo session. So we surprised her by showing up with the grandkids. My dad had bought some balloons and cupcakes for the occasion. We passed the cupcakes around to the nurses and other paitients, they thought it was neat what we were doing for her. Mom loved it! I think it turned what could have been a gloomy day, a little bit brighter for her.

About an hour after we had arrived, the benadryl and other medications started to kick in. She was not one for conversation after that. But we stayed a little longer and visited with dad. He has been so strong and held it together so well through all of this. Always worrying about how we, the kids, are handling things. He is the rock of our family, he keeps us all strong and optimistic. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful father, and mom is just as lucky to have him by her side!

I feel so blessed to be able to have my mom here with us, to be able to celebrate this day with her! It made me realize how lucky we are to be able to sit and enjoy her birthday with her.

Thanks for reading, lots of love!
